Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Dharamshala, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Indore, Rajkot, and Mumbai have been initially selected for a total of 48 matches, according to reports by ESPN Cricinfo and ANI news agency. However, the final will be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

In April 2011, the 50-over World Cup was held in India, so BCCI did not have to worry about the issue of rain and clouds. Besides, the BCCI is still waiting for the final clearance from the Indian government on the issue of tax exemption for the World Cup and approval of the Pakistan team's visa.
