India claim a historic bronze in sepaktakraw

Men's archery team satisfied with silver

Indian women’s team secured bronze for the first time ever in sepaktakraw after losing against Thailand in the regu semifinal at the Hangzhou Asian Games on Friday October 6.

India lost 10-21, 13-21 in straight sets in a match that that went on for 30 minutes.

Aside from that, HS Prannoy lost to China's Li Shifeng in the men's singles semifinal in badminton on Friday and settled for bronze.

Pranoy led a head to head first game break with 10-11 points. However, he lost his momentum to the World no.1 Shifeng, and the final scoreline read 21-16, 21-9 in favour of the Chinese shuttler. 

Despite his loss, Pranoy clinched a bronze with a spectacular performance adding to his list of golden achievements. His career-high world ranking is number 6 which he recently achieved. Moreover, he has a bronze in the BWF World Badminton Championships 2023 and was a part of the winning team at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and 2022 Thomas Cup.

Meanwhile, India bagged two medals in archery. The women's recurve team took bronze and the men's team swiped silver.

Atanu Das, Dhiraj Bommadevara and Tushar Prabhakar clinched silver after going down to South Korea with a comprehensive 5-1 loss at the Asian Games in Hangzhou on Friday.

India’s Ankita Bhakat, Bhajan Kaur and Simranjeet Kaur swiped Bronze in the same Women’s Team event after defeating Vietnam, 6-2 (56-52, 55-56, 57-50, 51-48) after four sets.
