India started its campaign on a positive note at the Asian Youth Athletics Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. In the morning session, Aarti bagged a bronze medal in the girl’s 5km race walk. India also won gold and silver in the 1500m track race in the evening session. In the girl’s long jump event, India bagged a bronze. 

In the middle distance 1500m run for boys, Priyanshu and Rahul dominated the race. Priyanshu out-sprinted Rahul and India registered the first two positions.
