India continues the streak of at least a gold in each of the six Asian Games editions this century.
Hangzhou witnessed India's achievement of two spectacular gold medals on Saturday. Rohan Bopanna and Rutuja Bhosale won the tennis mixed doubles final. India defeated Pakistan in a nail-biting match in men's team squash final.
Indian tennis team won 2-6 6-3 10-4 against Chinese Taipei pair, Tsung-hao Huang and En-shuo Liang. Due to Rutuja's nerves, India struggled in the opening set and lost to 2-6 in just about half an hour, however, bounced back strongly in the second set, securing a late break. And it was Rutuja's return game at the net that helped India march towards triumph.
In the squash final, Mahesh Mangaonkar lost the opener and then Saurav Ghosal levelled the scores. Chennai's Abhay Singh, then went on to beat Pakistan's Noor Zaman 3-2 in a thriller decider, in which the 25-year-old saved two gold medal points to emerge victorious. This is India's second gold in squash in men's category at the Asian Games after 2014.
