India gears up to face Bangladesh in the SAFF U19 Women's final

The final will be staged on Thursday, February 8, 2024, at the BSSSMK stadium in Dhaka.

India are feeling optimistic of winning their first-ever SAFF U19 title after witnessing a bright campaign so far. The Young Tigresses began by chipping in a whopping 10 goals past Bhutan but then lost 1-0 to Bangladesh in the second group game with the host scoring a last-minute winner. However, India turned their fortunes around by thrashing Nepal 4-0 to make their place into the final.

Once again familiar foes Bangladesh stand in their way in the final. India lost against their neighbors in the 2021 final as well as in the group stage of the present edition. Despite the past setbacks, India will be eager to rewrite history and emerge winners this time out. Head Coach Sukla Dutta also resonated the same feeling while speaking about her team’s chances of lifting the title.

“I'm truly not pleased that India has been losing to Bangladesh for the past three years,” She told AIFF website, “but tomorrow will be the time to change that. Both teams will put in equal efforts, but the team that scores first will likely emerge champion, as the confidence to score more will start from there,”
“I understand there will be huge support for Bangladesh, but we'll only concentrate on our own game. I hope my girls deliver the same strong performance they displayed in their last game against Bangladesh two days ago. They play openly, and that's where we need to capitalize.”
