India in a must-win situation against New Zealand in the third Test to ensure the WTC finals

Despite 0-2 loss against the Kiwis in the ongoing Test series, India occupy the top spot in WTC standings.

India, after a 0-2 loss in the ongoing Test series to New Zealand at home, are in a tight spot. They are looking forward to their chances of playing in the World Test Championship finals.

According to the present situation, Rohit Sharma and Co are in a must-win situation in the forthcoming third Test starting from 1st November at Wankhede, Mumbai.

Despite 0-2 loss against the Kiwis in the ongoing Test series, India occupy the top spot in WTC standings.

India has only six Tests remaining, five of which are against Australia in the forthcoming Border Gavaskar Trophy. To ensure a berth in the finals, India needs to win four of the remaining six Tests.

If India can win the third Test against New Zealand then Rohit Sharma and Co will have another opportunity to win three Tests against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy which is also not at all an easy task.

But winning four Tests can guide India to the WTC finals. If they fail then India, losing the top spot in the WTC standings, will have to depend on Sri Lanka, South Africa, and New Zealand's failure in winning their forthcoming Tests.

Ever since the start of the World Test Championship, India have reached the finals on both occasions and have eventually lost out to the Kiwis and Australia. This time, the task has been extremely difficult for them already before reaching the finals. The journey starts on 1st November.
