India in ACT final with a convincing victory against Japan

Earlier in the day, China secured their spot in the final with a commanding 3-1 victory over Malaysia in the first semifinal.

As anticipated, China and India will face off for the Women’s Asian Champions Trophy 2024 title.

As the defending champions finally stunned Japan by 2-0 in Rajgir on Tuesday to enter the finals. After three quarters of frustration, vice-captain Navneet Kaur found the breakthrough with a penalty stroke in the 48th minute, followed by Lalremsiami’s field goal in the 56th minute. India had several opportunities to score earlier, including 13 penalty corners, but couldn’t convert them into goals.

Japan’s goalkeeper Yu Kudo earned the Player of the Match honour for her exceptional saves, a testament to Japan’s resolute defense. India, however, will now focus on the title clash against China on Wednesday.
