India reaches the final with a 2-0 win over South-Korea

Goals from Salima Tete and Vaishnavi Phalke seal the victory

India beat South Korea 2-0 for the second time in as many games to reach the final of the women's Asian Champions Trophy at the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Astroturf Hockey Stadium in Ranchi on Saturday. India will take on Japan next while China will play Korea for the 3rd spot.

The hosts started the game being on the offensive and were determined to score. In the 11th minute of the game they successfully broke the deadlock as Salima Tete took put the ball in the net with the assistance of Navneet.

Vaishnavi Phalke, who was drafted only two days back after Sonika's possible concussion, shot in a rebound off India’s 3rd penalty corner to double the lead in the 19th minute. India created more chances but could not increase the lead anymore by half time. Meanwhile, Korea, barely had chances to score.

In the second half, Koreans strengthened their defence, and tried to attack on counters, earning a few PCs but were unable to convert them. India also tried their very best to score again but failed due to excellent Korean defense. India coach Janneke Schopman was satisfied with the result, although she would have hoped for more goals for all the hard work India did on the field.
