India to Face Bangladesh Without Vice-Captain; Bumrah's Leadership Uncertain

India vs Bangladesh, first test is scheduled to begin on 19th September at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Trailed by, from 27th September, the second test will take place at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur.

India is set to play a test series against Bangladesh. However, reportedly the vice-captain position will be vacant. Jasprit Bumrah, the vice-captain during the England vs. India Test series, will now be a regular member of the squad.

The 30-year-old bowler was regarded as the key leader after Virat Kohli officially avoided any leadership roles. India will play against Bangladesh without an appointed vice-captain.

The unavailability of a vice-captain in the team might be an indication of BCCI and team management withholding Bumrah from captaincy in the future.

Previously,  the bowler’s captaincy in the rescheduled test against England in 2022 and also against Ireland in 2023, has gathered praise from the cricket critics.

Nevertheless, Bumrah’s consistent history of getting injured might be one of the reasons for withholding captaincy, as the captain’s stable appearances are very crucial for the team.
