India Wins It's First Medal In Sailing

Neha Thakur swiped silver in the Girl's Dinghy ILCA-4 event

Neha, a talented sailor hailing from Bhopal, finished the game with a remarkable total of 32 points. However, her performance in the fifth race was not up to her usual standard, and she only scored five points.

As per the rules in sailing, a competitor's net score plays the most crucial role in establishing the winner. The five points were subtracted from her total points, resulting in her impressive net score of 27 which led her to the silver.

Despite the fierce competition in the girl's dinghy ILCA-4 category with 11 taxing races, Neha came out on top.

Cabinet Minister Kiren Rijiju went to social media to congratulate Thakur after her win. "A good beginning as this is India's 1st medal in Sailing," he said.

Neha's performance, despite the gruelling matches and tough conditions, showcases her potential and talent, which will lead India in the field of sailing in the future as well.
