Only after a couple of days, two girl footballers were allegedly assaulted by an AIFF executive committee member during the second division of the Indian Women's League in Goa, a female referee in Delhi Football‘s senior division league was threatened by a club official on Saturday during a match of the Delhi senior division football league.

The video clipping that has gone viral on social media shows that the City Football Club official City Football Club official Mohammed Sajid was threatening the female assistant referee during the team’s match.

Thereafter Sajid is seen being pulled back by others, but he once again storms at the official and threatens her saying, "I can take away your job. Maybe you have taken drugs. You did the same thing last year."

Anuj Gupta, the Delhi Soccer Association's president stated, "The incident happened in senior division league. It was unfortunate as we have been continuously working towards the development of women’s football from all aspects.”

Now it remains to be seen whether the DSA and the AIFF take any strict action against the offending official.

However, the incident raises serious concerns about safety in Indian football. It is high time now to implement stricter regulations and harsher penalties for unacceptable behaviour, especially those who are women.
