Indian women’s football team lose to Chinese Taipei in the Games opener

Earlier in the day, the Indian women's cricket team marched into the semi-finals of the event after a rained-out quarterfinal match against Malaysia.

Indian women's football team lost to Chinese Taipei 2-1 as a late defensive error allowed the home side to score the winner. 

Anju Tamang had given the lead for India at the start of the second half but Chinese Taipei scored in the 69th and 87th minute to clinch the win.

Earlier in the day, the Indian women's cricket team marched into the semi-finals of the event after a rained-out quarterfinal match against Malaysia. The batters, led by opener Shafali Verma, posted an imposing 173 in the first innings, but the match was called off after incessant rain just two balls into the second innings. India qualified by virtue of being the higher-ranked team.

Also, in the morning, the Indian men's doubles sculls pair of Satnam Singh and Parminder Singh comfortably won their repechage race to enter the final race.
