India’s performance in T20’s without Rohit and Kohli

Overall India played 25 T20’s since Rohit and Virat last played and won 16 matches loosing seven and one match was a tie. One match was abandoned.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli returned to the Indian squad for the forthcoming T20 series against Afghanistan. Indian team lead by Rohit Sharma suffered a heart breaking defeat in the final against Australia in the 2023 World Cup thus giving an end to a long waited dream for an ICC trophy. 
After an impressive campaign with the bat Rohit and Kohli were rested in the white ball series against South Africa. The duo returned for the Test series and guided India to a historic win at Cape Town. The duo last played T20 in the 2022 edition of World Cup. Since then a lot has changed. The rise of Hardik Pandya as a leader. Hardik became the deputy of Rohit Sharma and India’s stand-in-skipper after IPL win by Gujrat Titans in 2022. India played most of the T20 matches where Hardik steered the team. 


Pandya led India in 16 T20 series and won 10 matches. K L Rahul captained India in a single T20 in 2022. Jasprit Bumrah led India in the three match series against Ireland after making his return recovering from his injury. After Rituraj Gaikwad’s three T20 captaincy the baton passed on to Suryakumar Yadav. He led Pandya less India against South Africa in 2023. Both Surya and Pandya are nursing their injuries and the former skipper is not available in the Afghanistan T20 series.
Overall India played 25 T20’s since Rohit and Virat last played and won 16 matches loosing seven and one match was a tie. One match was abandoned. Thus India achieved a 64% in absence of Rohit and Kohli. India has also a 72.73%-win record in home ground winning 11 matches and losing three since 2022. In the shortest format of the game away from home India won eight and lost four out of 14 matches.
