India's Third Lowest Test Score; Cricket Australia's Taints Goes Viral

India marked their lowest-ever home test score. Their previous lowest home total was 62, also against New Zealand, in Mumbai in 2021.

India’s dramatic collapse to their third-lowest Test score of 46 against New Zealand in the opening Test triggered widespread trolling across social media. On a rain-hit second day, New Zealand responded strongly, reaching 180 for three in their first innings.

The poor performance drew attention online, with even Cricket Australia joining in on the fun, posting a playful jab on X.

This was India's third-lowest score in Test cricket, queuing behind their 36 all-out against Australia in the 2020 pink-ball Test in Adelaide and 42 all-out against England at Lord's in 1974.

Cricket Australia jumped at the opportunity to mock India’s performance, sharing highlights of the infamous Adelaide collapse. With a playful jab, they quipped, “Is 46 the new 36?”

Along with this situation, another post by Ajinkya Rahane went viral online. In the shared video he was practicing in the nets after the Indian cricket team had a rough day in Bengaluru.  The spectators took notice of the post and speculated that Rahane was openly trolling BCCI.

Rahane is currently leading the Mumbai team in Ranji Trophy 2024-25. He was dropped from the Indian test team to give the young talents an opportunity.
