East Bengal's six women footballers, Sulanjana Raul, Sibani Devi, Cindy Colney, Menaka Devi, and Thoibisana Chanu Sahena TH have been selected for the national under-19 team to take part in the SAFF under-19 championship.
Amidst the jubilation of ecstatic fans at the Kolkata airport and at the club premises Super Cup winner East Bengal's investor Emami Group in a written statement revealed that the company is on a mission to promote the club's football affairs on the long-term vision.
The club supporters had allegations since the beginning of the season that the investor was not willing to make additional investments to build up a formidable team.
But the company in its statement divulged that apart from roping in Carles Cuadrat for the betterment of the senior team's performance it also made investments at the grass-route level with the purpose of strengthening the senior team in the future. Winning Durand Cup and Super Cup are two examples according to the company statement.
The company in its statement has also promised to promote the club's football affairs in the future although its promise for promotion is still being criticized in the social media as East Bengal's women's team is reportedly not getting the needed financial assistance from the investor.
It is also being said that through the signing of Lago Falque and Victor Vazquez, the company is showing its willingness to make the needed investment.
However, East Bengal's six women footballers, Sulanjana Raul, Sibani Devi, Cindy Colney, Menaka Devi, and Thoibisana Chanu Sahena TH have been selected for the national under-19 team to take part in the SAFF under-19 championship.
East Bengal’s Spanish coach whose guidance played a major role in reviving the Red-and-Gold brigade to win a trophy after 11 years four months, expressed happiness revealing that his effort has been able to stop the criticism finally. “When I took charge, we had to face a lot of boos, harsh criticism whenever the team conceded defeats. Those rude criticism has stopped today after winning the Super Cup," said Cuadrat.
