Is Rishabh Pant unhappy with Delhi Capitals over retention price?

According to reports from Cricbuzz, Delhi Capitals has set Rs 18 crore as the top retention price for him, and Pant is reportedly unhappy with the price.

Rishabh Pant is reportedly disappointed with his franchise Delhi Capitals over the retention price settled by the franchise for the IPL 2025.

According to reports published by Cricbuzz, Delhi Capitals has set Rs 18 crore as the top retention price for him, and Pant is reportedly unhappy with the price. Pant is also believed to have met with DC’s co-owners Parth Jindal (JSW Group) and Kiran Kumar Grandhi (GMR Group) earlier in the month and expressed dissatisfaction over the amount he’d supposedly receive as one of the retained players for IPL 2025.

The wicketkeeper-batsman also wanted a bigger say when it came to the appointment of management (coaches) and selection of the team. He had reportedly suggested other high-profile names to take over from head coach Ricky Ponting and Director of Cricket Sourav Ganguly. But his advice was taken care of by the franchise owners. Rather, they decided to bring in Hemang Badani and Venugopal Rao.

However, the statistics show how Rishabh Pant played a crucial role in helping Delhi Capitals to become prominent in the searchlight of IPL. Coming back after a 15-month hiatus Pant outscored all of his Delhi Capitals teammates scoring 446 runs at 40.54 with the strike rate of 155.40! He is not only Delhi Capitals’ best batter, but also their captain. Under his captaincy, the franchise reached the play-offs in 2021.
