Ishan Kishan likely to open innings in absence of gill

kishan batted in the nets for 40 minutes

Ishan Kishan is likely to start India's World Cup opener against Australia in absence of Gill. Gill seemed uncertain due to high fever which is suspected to be dengue. It is in his best interest to prioritise his health and recovery so the Indian team management has had to reorganize their plans.

The Jharkhand left-hander, Kishan, has been approved for the opening role due to his ability to take on any kind of bowling attack and start the match on a positive note.

Ishan proved that he is ready and showed off his form during India's recent net session. He faced both the Indian pacers and spinners, spending almost 40 minutes in the nets. He seemed to be comfortable in opening alongside the experienced Rohit Sharma in the critical upcoming match against Australia.

Ishan Kishan is a versatile batsman and his aggressive batting style and fearless approach make him a valuable asset. His prowess is already evident in white-ball cricket, both in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and in limited-overs internationals. In the powerplay overs, he can take advantage of fielding restrictions which is just another example of his resourcefulness. Kishan has a strike-rate which is almost identical to Gill's. However, his average, is 44.3, which is significantly lower compared to Gill.
