Islanders suffer their second loss in ACL

Mumbai City will face Al-Hilal in their next game

Mumbai City FC lost 0-3 to Uzbekistan-based club, Navbahor in their second match of the AFC Champions League hosted at the Markaziy stadium in Uzbekistan on Tuesday, October 3.

The first half ended without any goals from either sides. Navbahor dominated the game but Mumbai slowly grew into it and maintained a steady rhythm.

42nd minutes into the game the Islanders got a golden opportunity, a spot-kick which was due to a handball event. However, Navbahor's keeper saved Greg Stewart's penalty delivery and kept the scoreline as it was.

In the second half, Navbahor was desperately looking for opportunities, which they got in the 52nd minute of the game. Jamshid Iskanderov found the back of the net from the ball he won from his teammates off-target attempt and obtained Navbahor's first goal of the day.

With that lead, Mumbai made defensive errors consecutively, which the opponents took full advantage of as Jasurbhek sent the ball at the back of the net assisted by Urunov Oston.

Finally in the 88th minutes, Doniyor Abdumannopov made a right footed shot from the right side of the box to the bottom right corner of the net assisted by Temurkhuja Abdukholikov and hence sealed the deal to hand Mumbai City FC, their second loss in the AFC Champions League.

Next Mumbai City FC will be facing star players like Neymar, Koulibaly, and Mitrovic as they play against Al Hilal away from home.
