Iyer ruled out of IPL, questions come up about NCA medical team's performance

The batsman might be able to return for the ODI World Cup in India in October or November.

Two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) is likely to receive big blow before the start of IPL 2023 as the team's captain and India batter Shreyas Iyer is going to be ruled out of cricketing action due to a back injury. 

Iyer was forced to withdraw from the ongoing ODI series between India and Australia due to an issue in his lower back. Iyer can also miss out on the World Test Championship final at the Oval in June. The batsman might be able to return for the ODI World Cup in India in October or November. IPL 2023 is set to begin on March 31 and Kolkata Knight Riders will have to choose a new captain in the upcoming days. 

However, doubts over the performance of medical team at the National Cricket Academy have been raised as even though Iyer has been suffering from back pain since last year he was declared fit by the NCA medical team.
