Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant look to rescue India after veterans Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul showed lacklustre form and departed early. 

India suffered a bitter blow right before lunch when Kohli departed by edging a delivery into the hands of the slips. Earlier, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul departed cheaply, for 9 and 0 respectively. It was Pat Cummins who picked Rohit's wicket, handing his counterpart an unwanted record. In the same over, Cummins then dismissed Rahul for a duck. 

Mitchell Starc emerged as a big wicket-taker for Australia later on, removing Kohli by inviting him to drive a 6th stump delivery. By Lunch, India had lost three wickets for just 33 runs while chasing 340.

Yashavi Jaiswal, showing determination and patience, rose to the occasion. His 53b off 130 deliveries so far, along with Rishabh Pant’s aggressive 14, seem to have taken the initiative in rescuing India from the early blow. India, which needs a miraculous 248 runs to win this match, is currently 92 for the loss of three crucial wickets.
