TFA has also planned to introduce a youth football competition this year named Youth Cup, inviting youth teams of the I-League and ISL clubs.
Jamshedpur FC, the outlet of Tata Football Academy in the Indian Super League (ISL) is likely to introduce women's football this year. It is learnt that the scouting program of potential girl footballers across the state is already over and a separate infrastructure for the women footballers is also being constructed.
It has been learned that the key reason behind initiating the nurturing and development and building up a women's football team with an eye towards participation in the Indian Women's League (IWL) was only after getting a four-star rating from the All India Football Federation (AIFF) in terms of the club licensing criteria.
Tata Football Academy has an envious statistics. Since its journey in 1987, out of its 252 graduates, 148 footballers have represented the country and more than 10 footballers who captained national team.
Still in recent years, the graph has gone down. The TFA top brass, after a thorough analysis and observation, has reportedly thought of changing its focus on trying to groom the potential youth from its state and the footballers from neighboring states.
An academy executive revealed on condition of anonymity, "It is true that a least percent of the graduates from TFA have been able to get into the national team in any age group. Several quality football schools have come up in the country’s different states and those academies are nurturing promising talented kids of their respective states and producing the stars of the future. This change in the country's youth development program helped our think-tank to set the new focus. We will also start grooming potential young footballers of our state, and neighboring state like Odisha in the near future. ”
Along with under-15 and under-17 groups, TFA introduced an under-19 group also last year and they have retained 10 promising under-19 boys who were in Spain on exposure trips and training last year. The academy which had a tie-up with Atletico de Madrid, is over and now efforts are on to make association with another foreign club.

TFA has also planned to introduce a youth football competition this year named Youth Cup, inviting youth teams of the I-League and ISL clubs. The competition will be held in Jamshedpur.
