Kiyan's effort helped his team create seven scoring chances. Even seven of the nine overall shots Kiyan has delivered in his 15 matches, were goal-bound.
Kiyan Nassiri, the son of East Bengal's former Iranian great Jamshid Nassiri has already taken part in 15 matches in the ongoing ISL for Mohun Bagan. But the 22-year-old striker who turned hero in the return derby of ISL 2021-22 against arch-rivals East Bengal was fielded as a substitute in his most of the matches this season.
Still, Kiyan's statistics has been impressive. Although he has not been able to score in the total 324 minutes he was on the field for the green-and-maroon brigade, Kiyan's effort helped ATK-Mohun Bagan create seven scoring chances. Even seven of the nine overall shots Kiyan has delivered in his 15 matches, were goal-bound.
His father Jamshid Nassiri however talking about his son's performance commented, "Kiyan was the top scorer for two consecutive seasons in Kolkata third and second division football league. He is completely an attacker. He should be given freedom on the field. If he is asked to play as a defensive midfielder then it becomes difficult for him to shine."
Citing the example of the return derby of the ISL last season where Kiyan turned hero with his hat-trick, Jamshid added, "He is being played as a substitute in most of the matches in the ISL this season. But I feel he has now been more mature. He has developed sudden speed in the penetrative zone. He should have been fielded in more matches full-time. Even if Kiyan Is played in today's final I am sure he will not frustrate."
Jamshid Nassiri who has nowadays been busy scouting talents across the different districts for different clubs however sounded optimistic about Mohun Bagan's chances to clinch its second ISL title on Saturday night at Goa. He quoted, "Bengaluru is a balanced side no doubt. Sunil alone can change the complexion of the match. Shivashakthi is also one of the key forces. But considering Mohun Bagan's spirited performance in the last few matches, I feel the green-and-maroon brigade have a better chance to clinch their second title."
