Jeje Academy is trying to participate in the Reliance Youth Football League next year which will take place in Mizoram.
He was not being able to deliver his best due to a knee injury for almost the last 11 years and finally said goodbye to a bright football career this year in February, scoring 23 goals for India in 56 international matches.
But Jeje Lalpekhua, the 32-year-old Indian international striker from Mizoram is not sitting idle. He has already kept himself busy on another mission silently for the last year. That is to produce more 'Jejes' in the future from Mizoram. He launched his football training center 'Jeje12 Football Academy' around eight months ago in his village Hnahthial where more than 50 boys in the age group of Under 15 and Under-12 have been training under the supervision of three coaches already.
Jeje speaking over the phone from his village recently said, "I organized many summer coaching camps and winter coaching camps with local boys in the last five years and finally choose these 50 boys for the center. I have two or three boys in both Under-12 and Under-15 age groups who look extremely talented. I have already tie-ups with Minerva Academy and I have plans to send these boys there. They have the potential to represent the country at the senior level." Commenting on his boys' exposure, Jeje added, "We are trying to take part in the Reliance Youth Football League next year which will take place in Mizoram."
However, when asked whether there is anybody to replace Sunil Chhetri after he retired from representing the country, Jeje stated, "It is difficult to replace Sunil initially. But if you look towards the future, I would say Manveer has the potential to replace Sunil in the future, but he needs the commitment Sunil had. Simultaneously, I am also impressed by Shiva Narayanan. He is a high potential, but he is not an exact striker. Still, he should be nurtured."
