
It may be mentioned here that in recent years, especially since the onset of COVID-19, players were allowed to let their families stay for the entire duration of the tour.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in its recent mandatory instructions has restricted the players' families during the away tour for only two weeks provided the tour is for 45 days.
England captain Jos Butler however refuting the guideline, revealed on Tuesday that having family around does not make any impact on cricket and also stressed the point that the issue can be managed without hassles.
“I think it is important. We live in a day and age now which is a very modern world and it is great to have family members on the tour with you, try to enjoy that. I do not think it affects the cricket too much and it is very manageable," Buttler said in a press conference at Eden Gardens ahead of the 1st T20 International scheduled in Kolkata on Wednesday.
After India’s disastrous tour Down Under where the visitors lost the Border Gavaskar Trophy to Australia for the first time in 10 years, the Indian board on 16th January issued 10 guidelines to India’s centrally-contracted players.
Among them is an old policy that the BCCI brought back which will allow players to have their families (partners and children) for a maximum of 14 days, provided an away tour longer than 45 days.

It was reported that some of the players were not available for informal team meetings and planning sessions, instead choosing to spend time with family.
