Jose Ramirez Barreto plans to join a club as coach before acquiring Pro-license degree

Jose Ramirez Barreto wants to acquire a pro-license coaching degree. Looking forward to the achievement he wants to do next year, the Brazilian striker, who is associated with the Reliance Football Foundation as one of the coaches, wants to associate himself with a club next year. He is also working as the technical adviser of the Kolkata club run introduced by Techno-India this season.

Barreto says, “For several years, I’ve been involved with the academy. But now I feel the time has come for me to step into professional coaching. Although I hadn’t planned to become a professional coach so quickly, I want to pursue a Pro License. For that, I need to be attached to a professional club, so I’ve started thinking about it.”

Barreto attended a Kolkata League First Division Super Six match. He feels that the quality of the league has improved compared to before and was impressed by the Barrackpore ground. Barreto said, “The grounds where Kolkata League matches are played now are much better than in our time. The infrastructure has improved, and the standard of play is quite good. There’s not much noticeable difference from the Premier Division.”

After a series of failures in the ISL, East Bengal stunned everyone with a strong performance in the AFC, reaching the knockout stage for the first time in 11 years. Barreto didn’t watch the East Bengal-Najmeh match but saw some highlights on a friend’s phone. He believes a coaching change can yield temporary results and thinks East Bengal should leverage this performance to bounce back in the ISL. “Carlos Cuadrat was a good coach who left too soon; he should have been given more time. The new coach is also doing well. East Bengal should capitalise on this AFC success in the ISL.”

Despite a rocky start, Mohun Bagan made a comeback with a mini derby victory and completed a hat-trick of wins against Hyderabad. Barreto appreciates Jose Molina's coaching style, stating, "Molina promotes attacking football, which is enjoyable to watch." He also praised Greg Stewart, the eternal favourite of Mohun Bagan fans.
