Team's two promising footballers Tanusree Roy and Anju Barla have been spotted by IFA spotters for the women's national championship.
Jyotirmoy Athletic Club’s women's football team has already drawn the attention of the city's football fraternity. The team started its journey in the CFL women's league, Kanyasree Cup last season and already qualified for the A Group this season. Presently, having played three League matches Jyotirmoy women's team has won two.
Jyotirmoy, in its last 19 years has come a long way with different specialized educational institutions (from Jyotirmoy School to Jyotirmoy Colleges of different streams) which now has been within the same premise named Jyotirmoy Knowledge Park, situated at a place named Kalikapur near Sonarpur in South 24 Parganas.
The chairman of Jyotirmoy Group Partha Sarathi Ganguli commented, "Being the president of a third-division club, promoted to second division this year, YMSA I joined IFA and was one of the vice presidents for two consecutive terms. This was the key background behind introducing Jyotirmoy Athletic Club in the third division two years ago."

But Jyotirmoy Group has already running a coaching program in the grass-route for a long time and Ganguli's love for the game is natural.
When asked whether he has plans to develop the club's women's football in the future, Ganguli revealed that he has started initiating the introduction of a residential football school for both boys and girls within the same premise.
The team's two promising footballers, Tanusree Roy who already has scored seven goals in the League so far and Anju Barla have been primarily chosen by the IFA spotters for the selection of the Bengal team for the forthcoming women's national championship.
This apart, nearly 15 girls have been spotted by the team's coach Kartik Bachar as potential and Ganguli is planning to nurture them, even after the completion of the ongoing Kanyasree Cup.
He added, "I also have in mind to try to involve corporate houses with our team. Even I will try to find out sponsorship for any of our footballers who will have eye-catching performances and I am also looking out for the exposure of our girls so that they can be engaged in participating in a few other tournaments."

Following the initiative from the team's coach, Jyotirmoy has registered 30 footballers for its women's team and most of them are from North Bengal. Kartik Bachar explained, "Thanks to our chairman for encouraging the girls constantly. Originally our purpose was to create such a platform for the promising girl footballers where they can survive and sustain financially in the future."
Out of the scheduled seven group league matches in the ongoing Kanyasree Cup, Jyotirmoy girls have won two matches and Ganguli has already announced a Rs 10 thousand bonus for the team on winning each match.
