Kapil Parmar scripts history; India's Medal hunt is on

Higher than any Paralympic event, India now has a tally of 25 medals. 5 golds, 9 silvers and 11 bronzes.

India is performing remarkably in the Paralympic Games, putting together the nations best ever medal tally. The para-athletes with reaching the milestone of 25 medals accomplished another goal on the 8th Day of the Paris Games. 

Kapil Parmar scripted another history for the nation as he won the first Para Judo medal in the Men's 60kg J1 at the Paralympics. Eliminating the Brazilian athlete Elielton de Oliveira, he won the bronze match. 

There was also another fourth-place finish to wrap up the archery events at Invalides. Harvinder Singh, who had won India’s first gold in archery at the Games, and Pooja competed in the mixed team recurve event. They defeated Australia and Poland to reach the semifinals but lost to Italy. In the bronze medal match, despite having a strong chance to win against Slovenia in the fourth set, they ultimately lost in a shootoff.

Simran advanced to the women’s 100m T12 final with the third-best time in the semifinals. Arvind will compete in the men’s shot put F35 final. Kapil Parmar and Kokila will represent India in the Para Judo quarterfinals in the men’s 60kg J1 and women’s 48kg J2 categories, respectively.
