Kibu axed, New Mohammedan coach Meherajuddin says his main job is to develop confidence

Mohammedan Sporting is languishing at the ninth position in the ongoing I-League

Mohammedan Sporting has decided to axe their current Spanish coach Kibu Vicuna under whose guidance Mohun Bagan won I-League in 2019-20 and rope in former Indian international footballer Mehrajuddin Wadoo for the team's remaining four matches in the ongoing League and Super Cup. The club executives have decided following a detailed discussion on the team's failure in the ongoing I-League where Black-and-White has been able to gather only 20 points in 18 matches so far, struggling at the ninth spot so far.

Mehrajuddin who had donned Mohammedan Sporting shirts commented while talking to Parallel Sports, "It is a great honor to become the coach of a century-old and prestigious club like Mohammedan Sporting. So far I have seen observed the team's matches in the ongoing I-League, I feel the team has quality footballers but they lack confidence anyhow. My first and foremost job is to transpire confidence among the footballers." Mehrajuddin had coached the I-League team, Real Kashmir.

It is believed that the club executive members were not exactly unhappy with the coaching style of the Spanish coach. One of the committee members revealed on condition of anonymity, "Kibu was a bad coach. But he was unfortunate to have to give a result. Our goalkeepers were not up to the mark. Even with a lead of three goals we conceded four goals and lost the match. The defense also could not prove strong."
