Sporting Club Bengaluru ensured 11 victories out of their 14 matches and lost only in three matches.
After Bengaluru FC, now it is Sporting Club Bengaluru from Bangalore which started building up its road to the Indian Super League (ISL).
SC Bengaluru entered the elite I-League for the next season, winning the title of the second division I-League a week ago with an away victory against Sudeva FC.
The team now has two matches in the League out of which they humbled Kenkre FC 4-0 on Sunday and they will be playing against Bengaluru United for the academic interest only.
The co-owner and the CEO of the club Kishore S. Reddy held ‘the team’ behind the team mainly responsible for the title.
Speaking over the phone Kishore explained, "I want to give credit to the back-room staff, the coaching team, the club executives, my UK-based partner Adrian Brice, and all other people involved in the club's everyday administrative activities."
He continued, “The co-operation from everybody helped to scout footballers and nurture them with such care that the footballers gave their best. We always believed in local talent and we proved it by playing the maximum number of local footballers successfully.”
The team's Bangalore-based head coach Chinta Chandrashekhar however explained that 'bonding' between the footballers, the coaching staff, and the management turned out the key factor behind the team's consistency.
Sporting Club Bengaluru ensured 11 victories out of their 14 matches and lost only three matches.
Chinta who took over the charge of the team two ago explained, “The journey was not easy. The management did a great job by retaining almost the same footballers. My coaching team also gave their best to create a bonding with the footballers. All of us belonged to a family and I believe the relationship was the key factor behind the success.
Kishore also hinted that in a bid to develop the youth development as well as the coaches' education the club might initiate a tie-up with an EPL club in the future. Adrian Brice, the club's major partner might take the initiative as he is one of the members of the EPL Board.
