Just hours after Bravo's retirement announcement, he signed on as KKR's mentor.
The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have announced Dwayne Bravo as their new replacement for Gambhir ahead of the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) season.
The legendary cricketer had recently retired from all forms of the game following the 2024 Caribbean Premier League (CPL) due to a serious injury. However, in a surprising turn of events, just hours after his retirement announcement, Bravo signed on as KKR's mentor.
The KKR CEO Venky Mysore delightfully stated - “DJ Bravo joining us is a very exciting development. His deep desire to win wherever he plays, his extensive experience and knowledge will benefit the franchise and all players immensely.”
“We are also pleased that he will be involved with all our franchises around the world - CPL, MLC and ILT20."
The cricket expressed his excitement to join the franchise saying - "I've been part of the Trinbago Knight Riders for the last 10 years in the CPL. Having played for and against the Knight Riders in various leagues, I have a lot of respect for how they operate.”
The West Indies had retired from international cricket in 2021, however, he continued playing for Chennai Super Kings as well as worked for Afghanistan's bowling mentor for the 2024 T20 World Cup in the West Indies and USA.
