Kohli joins 9000-club in Test; India bounce back

India, trailing by 125 runs, reached 231/3 at stumps on Day 3 of the first Test against New Zealand, held at Bengaluru's M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Thursday.

Virat Kohli etched his name among Indian cricket greats, joining the ranks of Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, and Sunil Gavaskar by crossing the 9,000-run mark in Test cricket. On the third day, he played a pivotal role, securing a much-needed half-century for India. Remarkably, Kohli reached this prestigious milestone in 197 innings, making it the longest journey among the elite group.

Rachin Ravindra spoke to the broadcaster after Day 3 of the New Zealand vs India Test. Rachin stated - 

“I guess I was just trying to build partnerships. That partnership with Tim (Southee) really helped me out, the objective was clear and we knew what we needed to do.” 

He praised Kohli saying - “Virat is obviously a great player, he punished us but we’ve still got a lot of runs to play with.”
