Kolkata veterans win Pogo Boys Cup

Two teams from Kolkata took part. One bowed out of the competition from the group stage. The other team coached by Alvito won the title defeating veterans of Fatorda in the final by 5-1.

Kolkata veterans guided by former India international Alvito D'Cunha clinched the Pogo Boys Cup title this season. The competition was held in Goa with veteran footballers of 50 years plus. 

Sixteen teams took part in the league-cum-knock-out tournament. Two teams from Kolkata took part. One bowed out of the competition from the group stage. The other team coached by Alvito won the title defeating veterans of Fatorda in the final by 5-1. 

Alvito revealed, “Initially the organizers planned to host the tournament with a few teams from outside India like Nepal, Bhutan, and Bangladesh. But despite having confirmed they pulled out of the competition. So they invited teams from other states. Our team were consistent. Some of them play football still in their localities or office tournaments."
