Kosaraju says he will not make ‘public apology’, waits for Supreme Court’s verdict

The AIFF president served a legal notice for making "false, malicious and defamatory allegations" after the latter accused him of using AIFF credit cards for personal usage.

Gopalkrishna Kosaraju, the former president of the Andhra Pradesh Football Association will not make a 'public apology' against the legal notice he was served by the All India Football Federation president Kalyan Chaubey.

The AIFF president served a legal notice for making "false, malicious and defamatory allegations" after the latter accused him of using AIFF credit cards for personal usage.

Kosaraju had written an e-mail to the executive committee members of the AIFF, alleging that Chaubey had "misused these (AIFF) credit cards for the self-purchase of shoes" on 29th January. He also attached the documents with the respective e-mails.

While speaking on the issue from Visakhapatnam, Kosaraju stated, "I will not make any 'public apology'. The president should make the apology to for what his misdeeds since he sat on the president's chair.”

Kosaraju added, “Even, the AIFF's nodal legal officer Nilanjan Bhattacharya has alleged a massive breach of privacy against the interest of AIFF. So, it is not only me. Allegations are coming up and it will grow gradually as under Kalyan Chaubey's leadership the AIFF has done a lot of financial irregularities."

Kosaraju revealed he has already filed a petition against the AIFF's financial regularities to the Supreme Court and is waiting for the verdict. "I have submitted petitions along with all the documents which cover inviting tenders for the live broadcast of the I-League and IWL matches, the appointment of former secretary Shaji Prakaran and his salary, and the latest misdeeds of using AIFF credit cards for personal usage. It will take time, but the verdict must come one day and I am waiting for that."

The AP Football Association's former president even expressed doubts adding, "I feel the government's top brass, especially the Union sports ministry is not fully aware of these irregularities. If they are aware the government will take over the charge and suspend the AIFF president and his associates as they took over the charge of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) and force them for an election again."
