Kosaraju’s explosive letter to AIFF; Final hearing at Supreme Court on amendment of constitution

The complaints on the amendment of the AIFF constitution were heard at the Supreme Court on Wednesday. The court fixed the final hearing on the constitution issue of AIFF on the 25th and 26th of March.

Gopalkrishna Kasaraju, the former secretary of the Andhra Pradesh Football Association has sent an email to the All India Football Federation (AIFF) seeking the disclosure of ‘huge legal expenses’ spent against the cases the case filed by AIFF’s former secretary Shaji Prabhakan at Delhi High court.

At the same time, Kosaraju in its letter has mentioned that the AIFF has removed several employees since the Kalyan Chaubey-lead Federation started functioning in 2022.

Additionally, a huge amount of money is being spent at Delhi High Court as well as at the Supreme Court on the amendment of the constitution issue, against the complaints on withdrawal of AFC bidding, and violation of process in appointment and removal of several AIFF employees.

Kosaraju while speaking to Parallel Sports on Thursday when asked about the issue, "You can imagine how many cases are going on at Delhi High Court as well as at the Supreme Court for last three years and all the designated senior advocates are engaged in the job. So, obviously, the AIFF has been continuing with the cases at the cost of huge amount of money.”

He continued, “The amount must have increased after Shaji Prabhakaran’s removal from the secretary's post and it should go more and more after Ranji Bajaj filed a suit against the appointment of secretary Anil Kumar. So who should bear the legal expenses? AIFF is a public property."

"That is the reason I have sought clarification from the AIFF to disclose the expenses and I also have claimed that these huge amounts should be collected from the President, Vice President, and Treasurer.”

Meanwhile, the complaints on the amendment of the AIFF constitution were heard at the Supreme Court on Wednesday. The court fixed the final hearing on the constitution issue of AIFF on the 25th and 26th of March.

Kosaraju added, “According to the Supreme Court verdict, this body is an interim body and according to court direction this body was valid for three months only. The amendment of the constitution was the key issue. That case has finally reached the final stage. I am also an impleader in this case, expecting now that the constitution will be amended."

However, none of the AIFF office bearers, secretary Anil Kumar, deputy secretary M. Satyanarayan were not available for their reaction on the issue.

Kosaraju also revealed that if he does not get any reply of this email within a week he will do RTI on the issue.

The AIFF is a Money making machine. The amount of funding that the AIFF get from the governing body FiFA is mind blowing. If all the resources are put into the right channel, India would have reached a better position in the world ranking. But there is politics drawn into AIFF. The amount of funding given to state associations and district associations are huge, but does that reflect in the outcome of the game being played by all state and district associations, the answer is no. Then where does these funds land up. Time to reflect on this.
