Kotal has plans to bring in facilities and method from his ISL experience in the footballers-run coaching center

The ATK-Bagan defender is on the way to achieve the feat of winning three ISL titles

Pritam Kotal is undoubtedly one of the Indian Super League's (ISL) most experienced Indian footballers. The ATK Mohun Bagan defender is completing his 10th year in the ISL this season and he is on the way to earn a rare achievement. The 29-year-old defender will make a hat-trick of clinching the ISL title thrice if ATK Mohun Bagan finally can win the ongoing League as they have four matches left.

But Kotal did not sound content only with his achievements. He wants to pay something back to football that has given him everything. While speaking to Parallel Sports Kotal revealed, “We started a football coaching center around two years ago in a place named Janai in Hooghly district. A few more professional footballers like Narayan Das, Saurav Das, and Samad Ali Mullick are there with me who all have made investments and the coaching center is going on under the tutelage of my childhood coach Anup Nath. Around 20 boys are there and I feel proud to say that Tuhin Das who has already donned East Bengal shirts is from our coaching center. More footballers are likely to come up and represent different mainstream teams within the next couple of years."

Pritam wants to bring in the infrastructure as well as a training method in their coaching center. He added, "We have plans to make it residential. We have plans to introduce other infrastructural facilities that I have watched in different ISL clubs. We need sponsorship and all of us are in search of that financial assistance.”

When asked about East Bengal’s continuous disaster in the ISL, Mohun Bagan defender only commented, "I feel you need to retain the same squad for at least three to four years to have the taste of success. Mohun Bagan and then ATK Mohun Bagan have been able to maintain that consistently.”

Kotal feels despite the fact that the senior national football team has not been able to acquire success at the international level in recent times, Indian footballers have been learning a lot of things from ISL. He stated, "The Premier League also had to go through a preparatory phase and that also took a long time to master the competitiveness which it has earned. So, I believe the senior national team will also have the taste of victories at the Asian level one day and ISL is playing a crucial role in that process.”
