Ladakh FA plans to invite Kolkata giants, Bengaluru FC to train there to popularize football

Incidentally, One Ladakh FC has been slotted to participate in the third division of I-league this year.

In a bid to popularize football in the Union Territory, Ladakh Football Association is planning to invite popular teams like Kolkata city giants East Bengal and Mohun Bagan, Kerala Blasters, and Bengaluru FC for high-altitude training.

According to Tsering Angmo, the secretary of Ladakh FA plans will be materialized whenever the clubs get free time in between their busy schedule.

Angmo said, "The teams would like to undergo a 10-day or two-week high-altitude training and in that case, Ladakh will be the best place. At the same time, the top footballers' presence will encourage our local boys and girls footballers a lot and popularize the game more. Already seventy percent of the local boys and girls have joined the coaching camps run by the state football association."

In another drive to make the game more popular, Ladakh Football Association is also going to organize Climate Cup with four teams around in September.

Interestingly, in this exhibition competition, the Tibetan national team will take part for the first time. Among the three other teams, one will be UT Ladakh, another will be from Ladakh including the One Ladakh FC, and Delhi FC will also take part in the tournament.

Incidentally, One Ladakh FC has been slotted to participate in the third division of the I-league this year and Angmo Tsering who is also a director of the club, is waiting for the return of the team’s British coach Steve Marcella.

She revealed, “We have all the local boys although we are planning to rope in a few quality footballers from Jammu & Kashmir for the Climate Cup. Our assistant coach Karma Gilley is now looking after the team. Marcella will reach and join training any day.”

When asked about the financial help Tsering divulged All India Football Federation is helping a lot, sending money every month to Ladakh FA according to its requirement. Simultaneously, LAHDC (Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council) has come forward with financial help for the promotion of football.

Tsering mentioned, "The Chief Executive Councillor Tashi Gyalson has taken the initiative personally, allotting a land exclusively for the development of women's football in Ladakh. It will be developed with the required infrastructure exclusively for women footballers. Our women's team took part in the women's national championship for the first time last year and they defeated Jammu & Kashmir 3-1 before crushing out of the tournament from the group. But that victory created great enthusiasm among the young girls who are willing to play football."

Tesring informed she has already requested all the 45 clubs in Ladakh to build up women's teams gradually.
