Lakshya Sen and Kidambi Srikanth selected for the Asian Games badminton squad

The Asian Games will be held in Hangzhou, China from 23rd September to 8th October.

The Badminton Association of India (BAI) announced on Sunday that Thomas Cup winners Lakshya Sen and Kidambi Srikanth have been named to the Indian squad for the Asian Games 2023.

While H S Prannoy automatically qualified due to his ranking, Lakshya and Srikanth were selected based on the four-day selection trials held at the Jwala Gutta Academy of Excellence in Hyderabad. Mithun Manjunath won the final men's singles event.

PV Sindhu, the 2018 bronze medalist, was joined in the women's singles by Ashmita Chaliha, Anupama Upadhyaya, and Malvika Bansod. MR Arjun and Dhruv Kapila have been selected for the men's doubles category, along with world championships bronze medalists Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty.

Tanisha Crasto and Ashwini Ponnappa joined Commonwealth Games bronze medalists Gayatri Gopichand and Treesa Jolly in the women's doubles. The two shuttlers are K Sai Pratheek and Tanisha, and Rohan Kapoor and N Sikki Reddy.
