Late Sandeep Chatoo’s son Samarth wants expansion of RKFC with a women's team

RKFC is currently standing in the fourth spot with 23 points from 13 matches so far.

With the sudden demise of the club’s owner Sandeep Chatoo on 31st December last year, uncertainty loomed large over Real Kashmir FC's continuation in the ongoing I-League and even doubts were created whether the club will retain the team in the future. Despite being selected to participate in the Kalinga Super Cup, Real Kashmir withdrew.

The team’s head coach Isfaq Ahmad who was often having telephonic conversations with late Sandeep Chatoo’s son Samarth who was in England and finally Samarth and Chatoo’s other family members agreed to continue with Real Kashmir FC to make late Sandeep’s great initiative memorable.

Isfaq revealed, “We all are grateful to late Sandeep’s son and his other family members. They are not only willing to continue with this team. Samarth also wants an expansion of the team in the future where RKFC may introduce a women's team to participate in the IWL."

Drubbing Mohammedan Sporting at Kalyani Stadium in was a big boost for the team admitted Ishaq. Commenting on the team’s performance Isfaq explained, "Our team is built with all the local footballers except the foreigners. We might not have huge potential footballers but they are good human beings and extremely disciplined. That is the key reason they are getting results."

RKFC is currently standing in the fourth spot with 23 points from 13 matches so far.

Isfaq also mentioned that along with guiding the boys on the field his continuous endeavour is to guide the footballers in a way so that they do not forget sportsman spirit. “After scoring his goal against Mohammedan Sporting our foreign striker Krizo showed a finger, asking Mohammedan Sporting fans to become silent. But I forced him immediately to make an apology. He did it. The gesture should always be sporting,” described the former Under-16 national coach.

However, before taking on Churchill Brothers in Goa on Sunday, Isfaq sounded optimistic about the boys’ performance although they lost to Rajasthan United FC in their last match.

“I hope our players will give their 100 percent in the match. The Churchill Brothers FC Goa has a well-balanced team. However, we are optimistic about positive results in our favor,” Ishfaq stated.
