Manchester United wins the tie against Aston Villa by a solitary first-half goal.
The Red Devils got back on a winning track after they beat Aston Villa by a solitary first-half goal in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon. Manchester United made a 15-match unbeaten record at home in the league and took a step towards the Champions League qualification. Bruno Fernandes scored the decisive goal after Villa’s goalkeeper partially cleared a shot from Rashford.
Erik ten Hag’s side had to work hard for the victory but at the end Villa’s 10-match unbeaten track ended. Manchester could have made a comfortable victory if Rashford wouldn’t have squandered a few chances. Casemiro’s shot ricocheted off the cross piece in the earlier part of the first half. Villa threatened in the second half. Victor Lindelof made a goal-line clearance. Unai Emery must be disappointed as his team didn’t create more.
