Manoj initiates an academy for his 'Guru', Manabendra Ghosh wants his student fulfills his dream of winning the Ranji Trophy

Coach feels Manoj will have an important role as the captain in guiding Bengal towards the title

He put his message on the day of 'Guru Purnima' on social media writing, 'I am what I could learn under the tutelage of my Guru, without whose guidance, I would have been completely lost. Guru Purnima is a day to pay my humblest tribute to my teacher and guide.'Manoj Tiwary still remembers his coach Manabendra Ghosh whom he says 'teacher and mentor'.

One of Bengal's most prolific batsmen who has scored nearly 10 thousand runs in first-class cricket in around 150 matches, is all set to fulfill one of his dreams. That is to clinch the Ranji Trophy title Bengal had last 33 years ago in the 1989-90 season. At the same time, the 38-year-old batter who is also the minister of the state of Youth and Sports Ministry in the TMC-led government has plans to pay a desired gift to his mentor Manabendra Ghosh.

He already has initiated a well-equipped training center for Ghosh in the Salt Lake area. Tiwary the Bengal captain in the ongoing Ranji Trophy was not available for his reactions on the issue. Ghosh however, speaking to Parallel Sports, "Manoj has taken initiative for a well-equipped training center for me. But first, let him win Ranji Trophy. After the tournaments gets over the project may come into a shape. Now, I am only praying for him. It was his childhood dream to win the prestigious tournament once as a player."

Ghosh has been coaching for almost the last 30 years. Several students under his tutelage have donned Bengal shirts in different age groups. But he never got any properly outfitted infrastructure for training during his prolonged coaching career. Presently he trains at a place in South Kolkata named Vivekananda Park. While commenting on Manoj Tiwary, probably his best student, Ghosh said, "We should not expect that Manoj whose average (99.5) in domestic cricket in 2007 was amazing. He is playing well for the last couple of seasons, mainly from his experience. But I should appreciate his captaincy. His intelligence on the field, especially changing of the bowlers must be noticed. Generally, whenever a bowler does not get a wicket and gets hammered he is substituted by other bowlers. But a captain should think of substituting a bowler only when he becomes tired and Manoj can understand it perfectly on the field. Simultaneously, Manoj has the quality to motivate the players who are not being consistent. I feel if Bengal wins the desired trophy ultimately Manoj's captaincy will play a crucial role."
