Manolo Marquez chosen India’s men’s national football coach

In another development, the AIFF has also decided to appoint Kerala Football Association (KFA) secretary Anil Kumar as its full-time secretary general with the current acting secretary M Satyanarayan work as his assistant.

Manolo Marquez overcame Antonio Habas and Sanjoy Sen in the race and has been selected as the next men's national football coach for the next three years. The decision was taken at the AIFF's executive committee meeting in New Delhi on Saturday.

Manolo has been given the option of continuing as the head coach of FC Goa for the forthcoming 2024-25 season. After his contract expires on 31st May next year, Manolo will take over the senior national team as a full-time coach.

The arrangement will ease the AIFF's financial burden as the Spanish coach upwards of 25 thousand US Dollars in salary already from FC Goa.

However, the executive committee also decided not to implement a relegation system in the top tier of ISL in the 2024-25 season.
