Marcus Rashford’s powerful strike proves the winner for United against Brentford

Rashford scored his 28th goal of the season so far.

A powerful drive by Marcus Rashford from the cross of Sabitzer gave United the winning goal against Brentford

Manchester United returned to the winning ways in the Premier League when they beat Brentford at Old Trafford. The team had dropped points in their last three outings and their last victory was against Leicester in February. This win in the EPL puts Manchester in the 4th position in the league table.

From the beginning United were dominating the proceedings. Before the breather Marcel Sabitzer’s cross found Marcus Rashford who fired home a cracking shot past the Brentford keeper David Rayan. This is Rashford’s 28th goal of the season.

Brentford improved somewhat after the break and they came really close to an equalizer when Kevin Schade got an open opportunity but the German only managed to put the ball straight in the hands of onrushing David de Gea. That was the only big chance for Brentford after this Manchester United held firm in the closing period.

Brentford’s counter attacks was much less effective compared to the match they played eight months ago when they beat United 4-0 at Gtech Community Stadium. When asked whether United were too reliant on Rashford, Ten Hag said “Yes its true but our other players can also score well. Bruno can score as well. There are many players across the squad who can score”.
