MBSG is scheduled to take part in their Asian Champions League-2 match against Iran’s Tractor SC on 2nd October.
Mohun Bagan Super Giants (MBSG) top brass has sent an official e-mail to the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) citing the present situation in the country which is at utmost risk for the footballers and other civilians.
MBSG is scheduled to take part in their Asian Champions League-2 match against Iran’s Tractor SC on 2nd October.
MBSG has attached the link to messages tweeted by Iran's military. It has been written in the e-mail, 'We are coming across escalating news from Iran from last night including the news of five-day public mourning from today. Other aggressive escalations are attached and links are given below which are self-explanatory. While players/staff safety is of paramount importance, we await AFC further guidance on travel to Iran.'
It is even learned that several MBSG footballers' application visas have been denied. Additionally, the ongoing war between Israel and Iran has created more anxiety for the club's top brass.
Simultaneously, the club’s top brass seems brooding over the issue that the club might face big punishment if the team finally do not travel to Iran and take part in the match.
