Mohun Bagan Super Giants continued their fine form with a commanding 3-1 win over Punjab FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. The result cements their place at the top of the league table and highlights their strength this season.
Punjab FC opened the scoring in the 12th minute through a well-taken goal by Ricky Shabong. However, the Mariners showed their quality in the second half to take control of the match.
Armando Rodríguez led the charge for Mohun Bagan with two excellent goals, scoring in the 48th and 69th minutes. Jay Maclaren added another in the 64th minute from the penalty spot, firmly turning the tide in favour of Mohun Bagan.
Punjab’s challenge was further weakened when Eduardo Vidal received a red card in the 51st minute, forcing the team to play with 10 men for the remainder of the game. Mohun Bagan capitalised on the advantage, controlling possession and creating multiple chances.
