MDSP stun Bengaluru FC; Chernyshov says the boys are now gaining confidence

Mirjalol Kasimov’s 25-yard brilliant free-kick in the 88th minute stunned the hosts

What Mohun Bagan Super Giants and East Bengal could not do, Mohammedan Sporting made it possible on Saturday at the Kanteerava Stadium, defeating the 2nd placed team in the ISL, Bengaluru FC.

Mirjalol Kasimov’s 25-yard brilliant free-kick in the 88th minute stunned the hosts as Mohammedan SC, having acquired their second win in the ISL so far got rid of the curse after an 11-match defeat on the day.

The win marks a sweet revenge for Mohammedan SC, who had previously suffered a defeat at the hands of Bengaluru FC in their earlier home encounter.

This win marks the second win of the season for MSC, taking their tally to 10 points from 15 matches.

The backline, led by French defender Florent Ogier, stood firm against a determined Bengaluru FC attack, ensuring a crucial clean sheet.

This victory not only boosts Mohammedan SC's morale but also reinforces their determination to climb the league standings. The team will now shift focus to their upcoming matches, aiming to build on this momentum and secure more positive results.

The Black-and-White brigade coach Andrey Chernyshov, naturally happy with the crucial away-match victory stated in the media conference, "Bengaluru is the second-placed team so far in the ISL. We were aware of the team's strength. But thanks to my footballers for gaining self-confidence gradually. I also thank the coaching staff for guiding the footballers to change their body-language."

Chernyshov also informed, "We had only 20 days' preparation with the full team before starting campaign in the ISL. So I knew the footballers would take time to gain confidence as it happened today. I am expecting a similar performance from the boys in our forthcoming matches."
