MDSP to rely on CM’s promise, keen to extend contracts for most of the existing footballers

Significantly, the club also is planning to extend contracts for most of its existing footballers for the next season even if the team can ensure a berth in the ISL.

With only seven matches left to win the ongoing I-League and earn qualification for the desired ISL next season, Mohammedan Sporting Club executives and its major shareholders Bunkerhill top brass are in the process of preparation for the ISL.

It has been learned that Bunkerhill which has now 51 percent of the club's total share will be getting 10 percent more share of the club's football affairs and other operational policies according to agreement. It means the company will have a 61 percent share in total with superior authority.

The company has already been in search of big investment, especially from the corporate houses.

But talking about the real situation the club as well as the investors are relying on the state Chief Minister's promise on the issue. It has been learned that CM Mamata Banerjee had an informal discussion with the club’s senior executives recently where Bunkerhill’s top brass was also present.

The CM had reportedly made promises to the club that she would try and help Mohammedan Sporting to get corporate investment if the team can earn qualification for the desired ISL next season.

Significantly, the club also is planning to extend contracts for most of its existing footballers for the next season even if the team can ensure a berth in the ISL, especially in the case of David Lalhansagna.

Dipak Singh, one of the Bunkerhill heads opined while commenting on the issue, “The footballers whose consistent show helped us to see the dream of playing in the ISL should be offered for the next season. We should be thankful to them. According to plans, most of them will be offered to renew contracts. Then it is up to the footballers’ wish.”

Singh added, "We will try our best to retain David. I feel he should be treated as the team's any of the foreign footballers."
