Mohammedan Sporting top brass wants the team’s new assistant coach Mehrajuddin Wadoo get freedom in his coaching after joining the Black-and-White brigade in the ongoing ISL.
Mehrajuddin Wadoo guided Mohammedan Sporting to clinch the third CFL Premier League title last season and also organized the boys, winning the I-League last season before Andrey Chernyshov was brought in as the coach during the I-League.
The former Mohammedan Sporting coach is likely to join the team as an assistant coach after the completion of the ongoing Santosh Trophy where he is busy as the coach of Jammu & Kashmir and the team ensured a historic berth in the quarter-final.
When asked about their plans, club secretary Ishtiaque Ahmed revealed, “I feel the players are lacking confidence somewhere. They are combining on the pitch but not being able to strike properly. Especially they look quite vulnerable in the 18-yard box. So I feel the footballers need to be motivated and Mehrajuddin did it perfectly during the CFL and I-League.”
He continued, “This apart, Mehrajuddin played a crucial role in the recruitment process of maximum Mohammedan Sporting footballers playing in the ISL. That is why we want Mehrajuddin to get freedom in applying his coaching philosophy despite being recruited as the assistant coach this time."

The secretary revealed that the club will sit with coach Chernyshov shortly and discuss the issue. The club secretariat along with the investor is also likely to discuss whether a new footballer can be roped in as eighty percent of the footballers of the current team are contracted for two years according to the secretary.
