Mehuli Ghosh is on a mission. The Youth Olympics silver medallist does not seem to be content even after winning the gold medal in the women's air rifle event in the Khelo India University Games with a staggering score of 637 in May this year. She has immersed herself in the pursuit of the desired ticket to the Paris Olympics next year.

Mehuli was naturally inspired by her score in Khelo India University Games as the women's world record stands at 635.3 while the men's world record was written at a score of 637.9, shot by Sheng Lihao of China in the World Cup this year.

This score will undoubtedly increase boost Mehuli as she was out of the international spotlight After winning the air rifle mixed team gold in partnership with Shahu Tushar Mane in the World Cup in Changwon, Korea, in July last year. She was not also at her best (626.6) during the national championship.

But while speaking over the phone from the ongoing national preparatory camp, Mehuli asserted saying, "The scenario at the national preparatory camp for the Indian team has changed a lot in recent years. The facilities and modernism in training method offered to the national shooters during the preparatory camp has been hugely encouraging and I feel, we become always upbeat about our performance."

Mehuli along with four other top shooters are going to Paris for a week-long training in the middle of this month. Their preparatory camp has been arranged in a star hotel in Faridabad. Austria's former Olympian Thomas Farnik has been roped in as the chief national coach.

NRAI has simultaneously appointed experienced psychologists, dietitians, nutritionist, and physical trainer separately for the shooters. Smart training sessions have been introduced where the shooters train everyday morning only and Mehuli feels these changes are making them positive, encouraged, and help to deliver their best.

Mehuli who is very much aware of the fact that she has to be within the top four in the World Championship to ensure her berth in the Paris Olympics did not sound much concerned. Rather she stated, "I am increasing my hard work. I know I will be able to succeed if I can deliver the best at the right time."

Mehuli has already overcome a lot of challenges in her career so far. This time also, she did not sound tensed. She rather revealed that in a bid to increase the intensity of her concentration, she still prefers listening to songs that she has been doing since early age.
