Despite having scored a staggering 634.5 points in the qualification round, Mehuli finished at 229.8 points in the final round.
Mehuli Ghosh has earned a quota for the Indian shooting team for the Paris Olympics next year. But she has to earn a place within the top two in the selection trial again before the Paris Olympics to confirm her Olympics confirmation.
So, the Paris Olympics is not in her focus right now. Rather she is setting eyes on the Asian Games. She is aiming for a medal in her debut participation in the prestigious mega-event.
Speaking from Hyderabad over the phone Mehuli said, "The shooters from the countries like China, Japan, and Korea will be there at the Games. They are going to be my tough oppositions.”
Despite having scored a staggering 634.5 points in the qualification round, Mehuli finished at 229.8 points in the final round. The 23-year-old shooter explained, "My score in the final round was not that disappointing. Still, I will have to work on developing my performance in the final round. You can improve in this segment during the training and also, conducting the finals."
Mehuli who has been training under Bibaswan Ganguly for the last two years at Olympian Gagan Narang High Performance Centre admitted that after leaving Kolkata her performance has improved. “My scoring in the qualification rounds has crossed the mark of 630 points. Here at Gagan Narang High-Performance Centre, the facilities, the infrastructure, and the range are much better than the center in Kolkata."
"More importantly, shooting is a highly technical game. Bibaswan sir used to look after my technical part in the Joydip Karmakar Shooting School since 2015. He joined the Gagan Narang High-Performance Centre. That is why I also decided to shift and today I realize that was the best decision I took."
