Pique and Messi came up from Barcelona’s iconic La Masia academy together. They together won the Champion’s League thrice and captained the club at different points.
The European football fraternity might be shaken with an explosive comment from Lionel Messi. The media as well as the world's football fraternity have been highly curious on Messi's return to Barcelona from PSG.
But one of England's leading football websites divulged Messi's explosive comment on the issue a couple of days ago where the World Cup-winning Argentine legend revealed that his Barcelona-return would be unlikely if a teammate who “betrayed” him is still on the team. The reports say that the Argentine captain will have this clause among the major conditions he is likely to put during his final conversation with Barcelona top-brass. According to the website, Messi also divulged the name of his 'Judas' in Barcelona. He is Gerard Pique. Although Pique has retired he is someway associated to the club administration. He reportedly wants to become the club president one day. According to the website reports, Messi has the key objection that he does not want Pique associated with the club administration anyway.
Pique and Messi came up from Barcelona’s iconic La Masia academy together. They together won the Champion’s League thrice and captained the club at different points. They played together for 506 times.
Messi blames Pique for his departure from Barcelona. Pique was the key figure in persuading President Joan Laporta that Messi’s leaving the club would not affect the team. Although it has not been proven still Barcelona failed to make it out of the group stage since Messi left the club.
Months after this fallout, the Spanish newspaper Sport claimed that Pique was not invited by Messi to a reunion dinner.
Incidentally, the craze over Messi in his country has not lessened a least. Still, the Don Julio restaurant, in Buenos Aires is mobbed by thousands of football fans whenever the Argentine legend goes to the restaurant with his family. People get rushed to the Don Julio restaurant to have a glimpse of the man who led Argentina to win the FIFA world cup for the third time. Eventually, police were needed to escort Messi to leave the restaurant.
